Mitigation plans put in place for the construction of the Chad cameroon Oil Pipeline prescribed compensations for destroyed crops, but not for the loss of arable land. Project sites were to be restituted to their original state after the works were finished and then returned to the farmers, but in the end the authorities have confiscated it. Affected farmers are struggling to provide for their families.
