Through its multi-pronged approach for Land- and Trade Justice, RELUFA links awareness building and advocacy activities about the impact of transnational agri-businesses on small holder farmers in Cameroon, with a Fair Trade dried fruit project called FAIR FRUIT.
Primarily grown by farmers who were forced off their original farmland to make place for the plantations of a banana company, and processed by a dryers collective of youth from the same agricultural community, FAIR FRUIT provides these marginalized producers an additional source of income that allows them to better take care of the educational and health needs of their families.
Marketed as FAIR FRUIT, dried pineapple, mango, papaya and banana are available for consumers in Cameroon, and through RELUFA's Trade Partner Partners for Just Trade in the US as well. The fruit will soon be available for consumers in the EU.
