The
Catholic Women's Association of Cameroon is basically a network of
grassroots branches of both Anglophone and francophone Catholic women
at the Parish level. These branches are the chore organs of the CWA and
can be formed with as little as 7 members while nationwide membership
amounts to 15,000.
Through its congresses the CWA educates
Catholic and other Christian women on issues that are aimed at bringing
women to the limelight of decision-making, both in politics and in the
Church. To develop the spiritual and the socio-economic lives of all
CWA women in urban and rural Cameroon the CWA, studies in a Christian
perspective the problems related to the advancement and development of
women in society and promotes the contributions of Catholic women at
the community, the national and international levels. The CWA further
strives to advance special education and training for members in Social
Development Activities and Family Life in order to enhance their
contribution in development activities. Educational activities include
skits, debates, and presentations. In recent years, themes have
included:
- Realities and Challenges of the Church in Africa
- Dialogue and means of Communication
- The family as a domestic Church
- The dignity of the African woman and her role as an agent for evangelization
- The Christian woman in the 3 rd millennium: the enhancement of her femininity and dignity
- Strategies for women in decision-making processes in the family, Church and society
- Participation and collaboration of the Christian women in the development of the church and society

and education of the Christian woman to enhance her femininity and
dignity The CWA women faced with the traditional and cultural
complexities
In the Our Lady of Lord's Zone, which is made
up of four branches of the CWA in Douala, members have initiated among
themselves savings and loans activities that strengthen their
individual economic capacity and encourage solidarity with each other.
